About Slipknot

Slipknot formed in Des Moines, Iowa in 1995. The band built their live reputation in the Iowa underground — the Safari Club in Des Moines hosted 36 of their earliest logged shows — before the 1999 self-titled album broke them nationally. Their catalog now spans eight albums across three decades.

The Setlist Pattern

Slipknot's setlist is built around a core of untouchable songs that have appeared at nearly every show: Surfacing, Spit It Out, (sic), and Wait and Bleed have each crossed 1,000 logged plays. The Iowa and Slipknot eras dominate — seven of the top ten most played songs come from those two records. Late-era albums (The End, So Far especially) are severely underrepresented live, with most tracks never performed at all.

Never Played Patterns

The two most likely reasons a Slipknot song goes unplayed: it's a ballad or soft track (Vermilion Pt. 2, Snuff plays surprisingly low at 77), or it's a deep cut on an album from the post-2014 era. The End, So Far (2022) is their most underperformed album by percentage — only 3 of 13 tracks have been played live. The gray chapter era fares similarly, with 6 of 13 songs never touched live despite the album being nearly a decade old.
